Summary: Julia Rutherford, out of a sense of duty, sets out for San Francisco to marry millionaire Alexander Smith, an old family friend. On the train she encounters a fresh young bounder, George Manning, who comes to her rescue when she loses her ticket. They strike up a conversation, and soon a romance develops. Smith boards the train to surprise his fiancĂ©e, but upon discovering the situation, he leaves the sweethearts to their newfound happiness.
