AMERICAN EXPERIENCE: FIDEL CASTRO (WGBH/PBS)
Maria Daniels, Peter Pinch, Joe Bunik, Tim Halle
Primary Platform: OCAP™ (OpenCable™ Applications Platform)-Enabled Set-Top Box and Wireless
Production Goal: This enhanced TV prototype uses the subject to explore a means to capture strong sentiments with "Share Your Views," a feature that provides access to feedback about Cuba and Castro from the PBS community. The "Unlock the Archive" feature gives viewers access to deeper artifacts and information from 40 years of Castro-related history, including historical documents and interviews on-demand from family, colleagues and adversaries.
The set-top box application was built using emuse's Modelstream® authoring solution. For those without set-top box access, or who prefer to use a ubiquitous device, the "Unlock the Archive" service extends to a premium wireless SMS book-marking experience.
