Production Team: HBO Interactive Ventures, H Design, Microsoft TV, DirecTV, GoldPocket, RespondTV, Peyton and Associates, Jonathan Boltax and Brenna Hajek.
HBO's hit comedy series ARLI$$, starring and co-executive produced by Robert Wuhl, charts the trials and tribulations of high-powered LA sports agent Arliss Michaels, a wheeler-dealer whose Achilles' heel is his inability to say "no" to clients and employees. Beset by demanding corporate sponsors, unsentimental team owners and the piranha media - and forever coping with the quirks of his executive assistant (Sandra Oh) and second-in-command (Jim Turner) while explaining his creative accounting practices to the agency's CFO (Michael Boatman) - Arliss has an uncanny knack for finding solutions to seemingly hopeless problems.
Each half-hour episode of ARLI$$, utilizes a book-motif opening to explore "chapters" in the life of Arliss. HBO, working with H Design and the other members of the ARLI$$ team, has tried to extend this motif to the enhanced version of ARLI$$. By providing viewers with the opportunity to vote on how they would respond to specific situations, or "decision points" in the story, Arliss' stories become the viewers' stories. Not only are viewers able to compare their responses with others through the application's polling function, they are also awarded points in the form of "cash" for correct answers. As cash is collected throughout the season, viewers rise through the agency ranks, starting their career in the mailroom and ending, for a lucky few, with a corner office in the executive suite.
