The primary methodology of the AFI Conservatory is hands-on practice, utilizing both traditional filmmaking and cutting-edge digital technology. Under the guidance of professional faculty, all AFI Fellows must demonstrate mastery of the tools and

fundamental tools for visual storytelling. One of the first programs to utilize advanced digital filmmaking and post-production technology, the Conservatory continues to provide Fellows with practical experience in
the most contemporary professional media.
The Bridge to the Profession
The AFI Conservatory is dedicated to preparing its Fellows for professional careers in the moving image arts. Several programs and activities
are designed to augment the
curriculum as transitional bridges
or connections to the professional community.
AFI Conservatory Showcase
The AFI Conservatory Showcase premieres new works by AFI graduates. Thesis
productions are screened for the
professional community several nights
each year at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood.
Production Design Showcase
Each spring, Production Design Fellows exhibit their work in a gallery setting on Campus. The Showcase, including a reception, is presented to invited leaders of the professional community.
New Scripts by AFI Graduates
Distributed at the Showcase screenings and mailed to hundreds of agents, managers and production companies, New Scripts by AFI Graduates is a publication listing the newest work of AFI Screenwriting Fellows.
Professional Internship Programs
The AFI Conservatory arranges internships for Fellows to help them gain valuable experience and professional relationships. Recent internship hosts have included The American Film Marketing Association, Cruise/Wagner, Curb Entertainment, de Passe Entertainment, The Donners Company, Fox Television, Jersey Films, Lions Gate Films and Miramax.
Distribution Of Thesis Productions
AFI thesis productions are licensed both domestically and internationally to all outlets including broadcast and cable, airlines, broadband channels, international television networks (outside the US), video-on-demand/ pay-per-view services, hotels and institutions.
