BRIDGE TO THE PROFESSION
The AFI Conservatory is dedicated to preparing its Fellows
for professional careers. Several programs and activities
are designed to augment the curriculum as transitions or
connections to the professional community.
AFI CONSERVATORY SHOWCASE
Selected Thesis productions by AFI graduates premiere for the professional community several nights each year at respected Hollywood venues.
PRODUCTION DESIGN SHOWCASE
Each spring, Fellows exhibit their work in a gallery setting on
Campus to invited leaders of the professional design community.
NEW SCRIPTS BY AFI GRADUATES
Distributed at the Showcase screenings and mailed to hundreds
of agents, managers and production companies, New Scripts by
AFI Graduates is a publication listing the newest work of AFI
Screenwriting Fellows.
SCREENWRITER'S SHOWCASE
Each year the Screenwriting graduates participate in a pitch night, which allows them the opportunity to present their scripts to representatives from the film profession including top agencies, management companies and production companies.
PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS
The Conservatory arranges internships for Fellows to help them gain valuable experience and professional relationships. Recent internship hosts have included DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, Lion's Gate, HBO Films, Focus Films, Fox Television Studios, Universal Studios, Sundance Institute and the American Film Marketing Association.
DISTRIBUTION OF THESIS PRODUCTIONS
AFI has a professional distributor that licenses thesis films domestically
and internationally to all outlets including broadcast and cable
television, broadband channels, video-on-demand/pay-per-view services, hotels, airlines and institutions.
