The ASC Heritage Award is presented annually to one or more promising film school students or recent graduates.
Over the past seven years, five AFI Fellows have won the award and nine have received honorable mention.
DGA STUDENT FILM AWARD
Each year, the Directors Guild of America hosts Student Film Awards for African American, Asian American, Latino and women
filmmakers. Since 1998, 13 AFI Fellows have won the award.
NICHOLL FELLOWSHIP IN SCREENWRITING
Sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Nicholl Fellowship is a prestigious international
screenwriting competition. Since 1989, seven AFI alumni have been awarded Nicholl Fellowships.

For the 2005 Esquire Magazine Celluloid Style Competition, four of the five Finalists are AFI Fellows or recent alumni:

In 2005, AFI thesis films were selected for, screened during and won awards in such festivals as The Seattle International
Film Festival, AFI FEST, The Cannes Film Festival, The Tribeca Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival and the Palm Springs
International Short Film Festival.
