How to Attend the Movie Marathon
Purchase a Movie Marathon Passport for $30.00 online or at 1.866.AFI FEST.
Space is extremely limited and the event is likely to sell out quickly. A Movie Marathon Passport is good for the whole Movie Marathon. There are no tickets for individual films in the Movie Marathon.
The Movie Marathon takes place during the final weekend of AFI FEST 2006:
- 12:00 noon Saturday, November 11 to 12:00 noon Sunday, November 12
- Mark Goodson Screening Room, AFI campus, 2021 N. Western Ave., Los Angeles, CA [map]
Plenty of free on-site parking is available.
Your passport entitles you to see all of the films screening at the Movie Marathon. We hope all passport holders will take full advantage of this occasion and see as many movies as possible.
Movie Marathoners are encouraged to plan their schedules to attend the entire event (that's part of the fun of a marathon, after all) but passport holders are permitted to come and go on a space-available basis. Re-admittance will only be permitted between films!
No outside food and beverages will be allowed, although there will be complimentary food and beverages always on site, and brief scheduled meal breaks between films scheduled around meal-times.
Blankets and pillows are allowed, but only one seat per person, no views may be obstructed, and snoring will not be tolerated!
Before You Travel - Important Information About the Fundraiser
Movie Marathon Passport Holders have an important opportunity. The more films a Passport holder attends at the Movie Marathon, the more money he or she can raise for an important international charity. In keeping with the international scope of AFI FEST and the vision of the originators of FILMEX, Passport Holders are invited to take the opportunity to raise money for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (theglobalfund.org)
To participate in the fundraising component and for complete instructions on how to fundraise, please download a PLEDGE TRACKER:
If you need a PLEDGE TRACKER emailed or faxed to you, please contact 1.866.AFI FEST.
Encourage friends, family and co-workers to support your movie-going experience while raising money for a great cause, by pledging a certain amount for each film you watch.
Passport Holders determine their own amount per film, and might consider making it more challenging by setting a higher value for films taking place in the middle of the night. (The 12:00 noon film may be worth $5.00, for example, whereas the 2:00 AM film could be worth $8.00.)
Movie Marathoners will have Passports stamped following each film viewed. For sponsorship purposes, this is the Passport Holders' verification of the total number of films attended at the Movie Marathon.
Collecting Pledge Checks
Movie Marathoners are solely responsible for collecting pledge checks from sponsors. Checks should be made payable to:
The United Nations Foundation, Global Fund
Once sponsor checks have been collected, please mail all checks, enclosed with a copy of the completed PLEDGE TRACKER, to:
AFI FEST
2021 N. Western Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90027
ATTN: MOVIE MARATHON
All checks must be received no later than December 31, 2006.
There is no donation required to become a Movie Marathoner (just buy a pass), and no minimum donation to support the Global Fund. Your stamped Movie Marathon Passport, one for each film seen in the Movie Marathon, will attest to your sponsors that you took the journey.
About The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was created to dramatically increase resources to fight three of the world's most devastating diseases, and to direct those resources to areas of greatest need.
As a partnership between governments, civil society, the private sector and affected communities, the Global Fund represents an innovative approach to international health financing. For more information, visit
www.theglobalfund.org.
The more individual sponsors a Movie Marathon Passport Holder gathers and commits, the more money is raised for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Take the journey.
