FILM CRITIC JUDGES
JEAN OPPENHEIMER
Jean Oppenheimer currently serves as president of the Los Angeles Film
Critics Association. She reviews films on National Public Radio, as well as in print for the New Times organization, which has 12 weekly newspapers around the country, and London-based Screen International. She is a Contributing Writer at American Cinematographer magazine and does occasional pieces for The New York Times syndicate.
WADE MAJOR
Wade Major has been a working journalist in Los Angeles for over a decade, writing for such publications as Entertainment Today, the Los Angeles Times,
CityBeat and Boxoffice Magazine, where he is currently Senior Film Critic. A longtime champion of Asian cinema, Major has authored and contributed to several books on the subject and can be heard, along with fellow film critic and Asian film expert Andy Klein, on the commentary portion of the DVD for MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE. A graduate of UCLA Film School, Major most recently produced the documentary SCHLOCK! THE SECRET HISTORY OF AMERICAN MOVIES. He is a former Chairman of the International Press Academy and a present member of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
MICHAEL RECHTSHAFFEN
Michael Rechtshaffen is a longtime film critic for The Hollywood Reporter whose reviews and feature stories have also appeared in leading publications throughout North America, including Entertainment Weekly, The Chicago Sun-Times and The National Post, as well as in syndication through Reuters, New York Times News Services and United Media. A member of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, Rechtshaffen is also a regular on-air contributor to the TV programs CANADA AM and eTALK, and has been a commentator for the BBC, E! and AustraliaÕs TODAY.
