Q: What is the Symposium?

A: The symposium is a series of six panels over two days discussing digital film and the Internet.


Q: Where is the Symposium?

A: The symposium will be held at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood at 7021 Hollywood Blvd, 1 block east of La Brea Blvd. For more information about the Knitting Factory go to http://knittingfactory.com/kfla/


Q: When is the symposium?

A: The symposium will be held on October 24th and 25th 2000. The doors will open at 9:00 am.


Q: Why is the Symposium important?

A: Digital technology is on the cutting edge of filmmaking. The new technology is changing everything about filmmaking. The Symposium is a unique opportunity to interact with some of the leaders in the field of digital entertianment. It is an opportunity to hear where they think the future is going and to ask them questions about the technology of today.


Q: Who are the sponsors of this event?

A: The sponsors are Intel, Reelplay, Hollywood and Highland, marchFIRST, Discreet, and Crest National Digital.


Q: Is there a web component or webcast?

A: There is a webcast. The first panel will be broadcast live from the Intel site. The other five panels will be recorded and available at AFIFEST.com courtesy of marchFIRST and AFI New Media Ventures.


Q: What is the Crest National Digital Breakfast and Tour?

A: Crest National Digital one of the preeminent Hollywood film laboratories is giving a tour of their state of the art facility. In order to take the tour you must have a Digital Symposium Pass or an equivalent AFI Festival pass (such as a Combo Pass or Platinum Pass) and sign up in advance. Seating is limited for this event. Sign up when you buy your pass by phone or by calling (323) 520-2000. The tour will leave from outside of the Sycamore entrance to the Knitting Factory ½ block North of Hollywood Blvd. at 8:30 am. It will take you on a tour of the Crest National Digital Facilities in Hollywood and return you to the Knitting Factory. Breakfast will be provided.


Q: Where can I park?

A: There is a parking lot underneath the Knitting Factory on Sycamore ½ block North of Hollywood Blvd. at a cost of $5.00.


Q: Will lunch be provided?

A: No. Non-alchoholic drinks will be provided. Food will be available for purchase from the Knitting Factory at 15% off the regular price. I recommend the desserts.


Q: Are there any screenings associated with the Symposium?

A: No. There will be a screening of the digital film LOOKING FOR JIMMY as a part of the festival film program on Oct. 22nd at the Egyptian theater 7pm. This requires a separate ticket from the Digital Symposium Pass. The creators of this film, Julie Delpy and Emily Wagner will appear on the Symposium panel THE SKY IS THE LIMIT: CREATIVITY AND TECHNOLOGY.


Q: Can I buy a pass at the door?

A: Digital Symposium Passes will be available for purchase at the Knitting Factory subject to availability. We strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. No other passes will be available for purchase from this location.


Q: Can I pick up my Will Call tickets at the Kniting Factory?

A: Yes, but only for the Digital Symposium Passes.
