Every year, the AFI DOCS Film Festival draws a group of dedicated and extremely valued volunteers to help run venues, assist guests and work behind the scene with staff.

Receive a Specific Assignment
When a volunteer's interests and the Festival's needs match, volunteers are offered a volunteer assignment. Assignments will be determined according to your availability but you must commit to work a minimum of 2 shifts (most shifts are 6-8 hours).
Volunteers are required to attend one mandatory training session prior to the festival (Saturday, May 31st or Saturday, June 7th). Assignments will be made prior to training.
Requirements and Benefits!
Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of two shifts (6-8 hours per shift) over the 5 day festival. Super volunteers must commit to work at least 40 hours (some hours may be performed pre-fest)
Volunteers who serve the required shifts will receive film vouchers which will provide entry to any film or panel event that is not taking place during the volunteer's work commitment, and in which there is space available. Some screenings may be sold out. Space is limited and getting to the standby line early is highly recommended. Some of the more popular films will be screened twice throughout the festival to allow for more opportunity to see certain films.
Volunteers receive an AFI DOCS t-shirt. In addition, each volunteer will be invited to a volunteer appreciation party after the festival at the AFI Silver Theatre. Successful alumnae volunteers will be given priority to volunteer in this year's festival.
