AFI CONSERVATORY REQUIRED DISCLOSURES
GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT DISCLOSURES
In October 2010, the federal government published regulations that require institutions with certain types of programs to disclose various data to prospective students. Because the AFI Conservatory offers a Certificate of Completion to Fellows who complete the program without first receiving a Bachelors degree (“Associate Fellows”), the Conservatory is required to provide data regarding those – and only those - that received the Certificate of Completion. This data does not include any data on Fellows that received the Master of Fine Arts degree.
The Conservatory program prepares Associate Fellows to enter the occupation of filmmaking. Most Associate Fellows are being prepared for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Standard Occupational Classification 27-2012 (independent filmmaking). However, Associate Fellows in the Editing program are prepared for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Standard Occupational Classification 27-4032 (film and video editing) and Associate Fellows in the Screenwriting program are prepared for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Standard Occupational Classification 27-3043 (writing).
More information can be found about these occupations at the U.S. Department of Labor’s O*NET Web site. For a profile of independent filmmaking, please click here. For a profile of film and video editing, please click here. For a profile of writers, please click here.
On-time Graduation Rate
Of all Associate Fellows who completed the Conservatory program during the most recently completed award year, 100% completed the program within the normal time of two and a half years. Due to the rigorous and structured nature of the program, it must be completed in two and a half years.
Tuition and Fees/Books and Supplies
Associate Fellows are charged tuition and fees the same as all Fellows at the AFI Conservatory. For Fellows entering the program in the fall of 2015, the estimated cost of tuition and fees is $105,246 for the entire program. For Fellows entering the program after the fall of 2015, one should expect an increase as tuition and fees generally increase for each incoming class.
Based on a recent survey of Fellows’ expenditures, the estimated amount spent annually on books and supplies was $4,203.
Job Placement Rate
At this time, we are not required to calculate a job placement rate. The National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) is developing a nation-wide standard that the Conservatory will adopt as required when released to the public.
Median Loan Debt
For the 2013-2014 award year, because there were fewer than ten graduates from this program with loans during this period, we do not publish the median loan debt amounts for privacy reasons.
