Director's Fog's eagerly anticipated adaptation of Erling Jepsen's bestselling novel sustains a chilly black-comic tone. Eleven-year-old Allan worships his father, the local milkman, despite his abusive hysterics and suicidal threats. His older brother ran off, and Allan's mother escapes her husband's tantrums with sleeping pills. Heavily influenced by his father and trying to please him, Allan commits appalling acts—unaware of their import.
